Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) in WA schools is a proactive, evidence-based framework focusing on:
- Teaching, reinforcing, and rewarding positive behaviours to create supportive learning environments,
- Reducing challenging behaviours by understanding their function and responding using a Multi-Tiered Support system (MTSS),
- Setting clear expectations to improve social-emotional learning and outcomes for all students.
Using proactive strategies and explicit teaching of behavioural expectations, Kent Street PBS aims to create safe positive learning environments based on our four values:
Achievement
We set and refine goals, apply strategies, transfer learning across contexts, use feedback to improve, and celebrate both growth and results.
Respect
We treat others with dignity, collaborate by thinking interdependently, celebrate diversity and inclusion, listen with empathy, lead by modelling growth behaviours, and celebrate the processes that drive achievement.
Resilience
We embrace challenge as the pathway to growth, persevere by adjusting strategies, adapt when things don’t work, and act with self-belief by applying feedback.
